Myrtle Beach can be a frightful place during the month of October, but you’ll love every minute of it! Top attractions like the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, Barefoot Landing, and Broadway at the Beach are get into the Halloween Spirit with parties, fright nights, trick or treating, sleepovers and costume contests. Read on to decide which Myrtle Beach Halloween festivities are right for you and your family.

Myrtle Beach Halloween Events

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Halloween Fright Nights (Oct. 3 – Nov. 1) – The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk Fright Nights take place every Friday and Saturday through November 1st. Zombies will roam the area, which will be decorated and lit with eerie lights and effects. Discounted admission to the haunted attractions, zip lines, the Skywheel, and other favorites will also be offered. This is a great time to check out Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, located at 9th Avenue North on Ocean Boulevard, which features live actors inside a giant haunted house. The sounds and special effects will chill you to the core this Halloween. Nearby, the Nightmare Haunted House is located at 10th Avenue North on Ocean Boulevard. This haunted house attraction features a crazy clown with an evil laugh that haunts you as you struggle to find your way through the dark, spooky corridors.

Broadway at the Beach Nightmare in the Square (Oct. 25) – Just a couple minutes away from the Boardwalk, Broadway at the Beach is home to several Halloween events this year and offers something for everyone from children to adults. The adult fun begins at the Nightmare in the Square costume contest and party starting at 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 25th. Party in the square with a DJ, and stay for the costume contest which will follow. Celebrations Nightclubs will also have a Halloween Night Bash and costume contest.

Broadway at the Beach Trick-or-Treat (Oct. 31) – The family friendly Broadway at the Beach event occurs the following Friday, on Halloween night. Bring the kids to the annual Broadway at the Beach Trick-or-Treat from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM Friday night as participating merchants hand out goodies throughout the shopping and entertainment complex.

Ripley’s Aquarium Boo-Quarium Bash and Spook-Quarium Sleepover (Oct. 25) – Ripley’s Aquarium, also at Broadway at the Beach, will hold two events for Halloween this year. The first event, the “Boo-Quarium Bash“, will take place from 3:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday, October 25 and is free with paid admission to the aquarium. There will be a costume parade, a “build a scarecrow workshop”, and a scavenger hunt. Immediately following the bash, the “Spook-Quarium Sleepover” begins. Guests will spend the night in the aquarium with the sharks and other sea creatures, while making crafts and enjoying snacks, a scavenger hunt and a haunted aquarium walk. The sleepover goes from 8:00 pm Saturday until 8:00 am Sunday, October 26. The cost is $29.99 per person plus the cost of admission. Snacks, games, Sunday morning breakfast are included.

North Myrtle Beach Halloween Events

Barefoot Landing Kids’ Halloween Fun Day (Oct. 25) – Folks visiting the North Myrtle Beach area can choose from two nearby Halloween Celebrations on Saturday, October 25th. At Barefoot Landing, the fun begins at noon with kids and pets Halloween costume contests. There will be prizes for both, as well as carousel rides, kid’s karaoke, a petting zoo, face painting, and much more! Then, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, enjoy a safe evening of family friendly trick-or-treating around the complex.

North Myrtle Beach Howl-O-Scream (Oct. 25) – Also in North Myrtle Beach event is the annual Howl-O-Scream, which moves to a new venue this year – the new North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. This spooky event also offers scare-free zones for the faint of heart. Activities will include pumpkin painting, marshmallow roasting, hayrides, and trick-or-treating for the kids. Howl-O-Scream runs from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Additional Grand Strand Halloween Events

Murrells Inlet Marshwalk Trick-or-Treat and Costume Contest (Oct. 31) – South of Myrtle Beach, the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk will host trick or treating for kids from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Halloween night, where there will also be a costume contest, parade and more. Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, funniest and most creative costumes. This will be followed by some Halloween fun for the adults from 7:00 PM until 10:30 PM, with adult costume contest cash prizes ranging from $175 to $1500!

Thompson Farm Corn Maze (Sat. & Sun. in Oct.) – For those who aren’t into costumes and overindulging in candy, but enjoy spending time outdoors in our lovely fall weather, check out the Corn Maze at Thompson Farm and Nursery in the neighboring city of Conway, SC. This eight acre maze is the largest in the state, and is sure to keep you occupied for hours! The maze is open every Saturday and Sunday in October. Saturday hours are 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and Sunday hours are 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. There are also hay rides, animal feeding, and a kid’s play area.
