26th annual Run To The Sun Car Show

If you love classic, antique, and exotic cars, then you should be in Myrtle Beach for South Carolina’s largest car and truck show – the 26th annual Run To The Sun, organized by the Pee Dee Street Rodders. The show returns to the old Myrtle Square Mall site between 21st and 29th avenues north in Myrtle Beach, where last year’s show reached over 3,200 participants.

The Run To The Sun dates back to 1985 when the Pee Dee Street Rodders held small shows in Florence, SC, where the club is based. Their first show had only 88 participants, but the Run to the Sun eventually moved to the beach and participation increased, with over 3,000 participants expected again this year. The show features classics like 1932 Fords, 1957 Chevrolets and some vintage Ferraris. Vehicles manufactured after 1989 are not permitted. There is no charge for spectators to view the vehicles, and there will be vendors serving food and selling classic auto accessories and memorabilia. There are also drawings for cash and door prizes.

The Run To The Sun car show hopes to raise $100,000 for The Children’s Miracle Network and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They beat that goal last year by raising about $102,000, and have raised over a million dollars for these charities over the life of the event. After the cost of the show is covered, all remaining proceeds are donated.

This year’s show will take place Thursday, March 20 through Saturday, March 22, 2014. The shows run daily from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. After 5:00 PM, be prepared to cruise Ocean Boulevard in style! There will also be nightlife events held at participating businesses within the Broadway at the Beach entertainment complex. Shuttles will be available for travel between Broadway and the show site.

Guests staying at the Patricia Grand, Anderson Ocean Club and Spa, Carolinian Beach Resort and Camelot by the Sea in Myrtle Beach are lucky enough to be within walking distance of the event! A quick side note – don’t take a scooter or golf cart to view the show, as you will not be permitted due to the possibility of damaging these classic vehicles. Come be a part of this great charity event that draws thousands of people to the Grand Strand every year!
