The Grand Strand’s biggest food and wine festival will return in 2014 after being absent last year. Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine & Spirits Festival has been a staple of Myrtle Beach ever since the first time the event was held in May of 2010. After a year of planning the first festival, over 4,000 hungry folks came out to sample food and drink donated from the best of the area’s over 1700 restaurants. For the second annual festival in 2011, appearances from Paula Deen and the Lee Brothers made the event even more successful. More elements were added that year and the next, like an oyster roast, mixology competition, and even an Iron Chef-style cooking contest. Coastal Uncorked became a full week of delicious goodness.

Not all of the details have been released yet, but this year’s festival is scheduled to take place at the oceanfront Plyler Park during the week of June 2nd. One notable addition is the new craft beer festival slated for Friday, June 6th. One of the favorite parts for many of the festival-goers are the “Tasting Trollies” which are scheduled for a comeback.

The Tasting Trollies are street-car style shuttles that will be transporting participants around eight different stops from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 7th. Some of the stops include The Sea Captain’s House (a highly acclaimed local seafood establishment), a winery event hosted at Plyler Park, and a Beer Garden on the Boardwalk near the 2nd Avenue Pier. Each stop will have different themes, dishes, and drinks, and the all-inclusive Trolley Pass will give passengers unlimited access.

The Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association helps organize the annual festival, which is also sponsored by US Foods, the Oceanfront Merchants Association, Boar’s Head, Southern Wine and Spirits, and many others.
